The Chairman, Ikorodu Community
Development Award Foundation (ICDA),Mr Austin Awolonu says the foundation will give scholarship
awards to outstanding students from the area.
Awolonu told confirmed this to newsmen in
Lagos on Wednesday that awards would also be given to outstanding public
schools in the division.
In his words, "This is a foremost grassroots awards to
encourage indigenes and residents of Ikorodu.
"The awards are meant to support and celebrate
people who have made the community proud outside the division.
"It will also reward institutions and corporate
organisations doing the entire Ikorodu division proud," Awolonu said.
In the same vein, Mr Sanai Agunbiade, the Majority
Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, has also thrown his weight behind the
awards by endowing a Community Development Award.
The foundation chairman said the 2016 categories
would include the Bishop Mike Okonkwo Award for the most outstanding secondary
school and the Rhoda Youth Award for student with best WASSCE result.
He said that awards would also be given to the best female
student in WASSCE, outstanding students in sports, arts and entertainment as
well as SOB Agunbiade Award for the most outstanding CDA, market and garage of
the year.
The chairman urged Ikorodu indigenes and residents to
support the foundation in its efforts at promoting responsible individuals and
institutions contributing to the development of the community.
